Infants Aquatics & Pre-School Learn to Swim
Starfish Aqua Bubs
Introductory learn to swim class for toddlers. Swimmers are introduced to the aquatic environment with the use of aids and toys and develop familiarity and confidence within the pool environment. Swimmers are taught basic breath holding skills, movement and propulsion skills and basic water safety skills such as floating and submerging.
Clownfish Aqua Tots
Older babies develop water confidence, safety awareness and basic propulsion skills such as paddling. (Parent participation required)
Turtles Beginners
Introductory learn to swim class for toddlers. Swimmers are introduced to the aquatic environment with the use of aids and toys and develop familiarity and confidence within the pool environment. Swimmers are taught basic breath holding skills, movement and propulsion skills and basic water safety skills such as floating and submerging.
Penguins Advanced Beginners
Basic introduction of freestyle technique including a strong kick and long arms. Backstroke sculling is taught prior to introducing backstroke arms. Continued emphasis on safety in both shallow and deep water including safe entry and exit techniques. Propulsion skills are improved on front and back and butterfly kick is introduced.
Crocodiles Stroke Development
Freestyle skills are enhanced and side breathing techniques are introduced. Backstroke skills are further developed and distances increased. Butterfly arms are introduced as well as diving. Swimmers are able to submerge and retrieve an object from deep water and return to the pool edge. Deep water safety and confidence skills are further enhanced.
School Age Learn to Swim
Polar Bears Beginners
Introductory learn to swim class for school age swimmers that have never had lessons or are petrified of the water. Swimmers are introduced to basic water safety skills such as floating, basic movement and propulsion skills such as kicking and paddling, swimmers are taught basic breath control and submersion skills
Seals Advanced Beginners
Basic introduction of freestyle technique including a strong kick and long arms. Backstroke sculling is taught prior to introducing backstroke arms. Continued emphasis on safety in both shallow and deep water including safe entry and exit techniques. Propulsion skills are improved on front and back and butterfly kick is introduced. Diving is introduced and basic survival and rescue techniques taught.
Whales Stroke Development
Freestyle technique and bilateral breathing is introduced. Backstroke skills are enhanced and distances increased. Butterfly arm stroke is introduced. Diving is enhanced with the introduction of a more streamlined position. Deep water confidence, submersion and treading water are all practiced. Basic rescue techniques are established.
Stingrays Stroke Strengthening
Freestyle technique is further enhanced through stroke specific drills. Freestyle distances are increased. Backstroke skills continue to be refined and distances increased. Butterfly stroke is enhanced and breathing introduced. Breaststroke is introduced. Dives are enhanced and a focus on survival swimming is introduced.
Squad Training
Dolphins Mini Squad
Freestyle skills are refined with an emphasis on correct biomechanics of the stroke. Backstroke and Butterfly are further enhanced with a variety of stroke development drills. Breaststroke breath timing and kick efficiency is developed. Dives are refined and turns are introduced. Swimmers are introduce to Individual Medley events and all distances increased as endurance improves
Sharks Junior Squad
Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly strokes are all refined and endurance improved in preparation for squad swimming. Competition starts and turns are developed across all four strokes. Individual Medley skills are improved and basic rescue techniques learnt.
